This project was developed as part of the Light Challenge, an annual initiative focused on raising awareness around light pollution in the Netherlands.
Our goal was to highlight the growing impact of excessive artificial lighting and encourage more conscious light usage. To achieve this, we built the project around narrative persuasion — using storytelling as the core method to engage the audience emotionally rather than relying on statistics alone.
Instead of traditional animation, we chose a visual storytelling approach where atmosphere, pacing, and imagery carried the message. The experience was supported by custom sound design, carefully crafted to enhance the tone and emotional depth of the story.
The central objective was to build empathy — helping viewers feel the consequences of light pollution and inspiring them to reconsider their own light consumption.
